How to Make Switchel: The Original Honey Sports Drink
What is Switchel?
Switchel (also called "haymaker's punch") is a refreshing, naturally energizing drink made with honey, apple cider vinegar, ginger, and water. It's been around for centuries — and for good reason. It's the original farm-to-table sports drink.
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons raw wildflower honey
- 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 1 teaspoon fresh grated ginger (or 1/4 tsp ground ginger)
- 2 cups cold water
- Juice of half a lemon (optional)
- Ice and fresh mint to serve
Instructions
- Combine honey, apple cider vinegar, and ginger in a jar or pitcher.
- Add water and stir well until honey is fully dissolved.
- Add lemon juice if using.
- Serve over ice with fresh mint.
- Store in the fridge for up to 5 days.
Why Raw Honey?
Raw, unfiltered honey adds natural enzymes, antioxidants, and a deep floral flavor that processed honey simply can't match. Our Georgia wildflower honey is the perfect base for this drink — bright, complex, and naturally sweet.
